Curious about shibari photography but not sure where to begin? This experience is designed to guide you from first enquiry to final gallery with clarity, professionalism, and respect. Whether you’re brand new to rope or already experienced, we create elevated, high-art imagery that captures the tension, beauty, and presence of shibari without turning it into spectacle. You’ll work with a resident rigger and instructor from Shibari Sydney alongside Matt’s cinematic, editorial approach to photography. From grounded ties and sculptural rope lines through to more elaborate patterns and suspensions (where appropriate), each session is tailored to your comfort level, experience, and the mood you want to embody. Mood & Creative Direction Options Your shoot can be shaped as: Dark editorial (high contrast, polished, fashion-forward) Fine-art minimalism (clean backgrounds, rope as graphic form) Noir narrative (shadow, story, tension, atmosphere) Raw intimacy (close framing, honest texture, presence-first) We’ll refine your direction before shoot day so you arrive knowing exactly what we’re creating. Safety, Consent & Suitability Safety is foundational. Boundaries are set before the shoot, consent is active throughout, and pacing is never rushed. Tie selection is guided by suitability, including flexibility, comfort, and any pre-existing injuries. Breaks and check-ins are built into the process, and you can pause or stop at any point. You’re also welcome to bring trusted support if desired. Booking Notes Male and female riggers are available. Please specify your preference when booking. Your own rigger is welcome and may qualify for a discounted rate once booking details are confirmed. Package Inclusions Pre-shoot consultation with both rigger and photographer (In person, or via a web-based call if needed) Unlimited BYO wardrobe changes (time permitting) 2-hour studio hire at Shibari Sydney (Marrickville) Use of studio props, tools & toys for your shoot 15 high-resolution retouched images per tie Private online gallery delivery, with additional images and prints available to purchase *Certain ties may not be suitable depending on flexibility, comfort level, or pre-existing injury. Your rigger will review what is and isn’t appropriate prior to the shoot so everything remains safe and aligned with your body and boundaries.
